Hair and Make-Up

The typical boys Northern Soul hairstyle made a popular come back in 2017. 'Quick sides, long prime' it works well with all kinds of hair, straight, wavy, curly and could be worn in some ways, together with avenue or traditional styles. For example, curly fringe, disconnected, slicked back or side swept undercut, basically perfect for any occasion.

Girls haircuts were big and bouncy, sometimes short and boxy, very distinctive and sophisticated, in contrast to some haircuts you can easily spot a 70's hairstyle at first glance.
Northern Soul hairstyles work for all types of hair and all different colours, unless you're unfortunate and have very fine/fair hair or going bald on the crown.

Supposing the texture, length and ethnicity of the person depended on how they would style their hair.
The two images are the kind of hairstyles you would see a lot of, the most popular/known.

Make Up
If you google '70's makeup inspiration' you will find a LOT of bright colours, eyeshadow right up to the eyebrow, what we would now call 'normal' eyebrows and very pink cheeks.
Although, from looking at pictures of girls on the Northern Soul scene it's quite clear that make up wasn't THAT much of a big deal, it was all about the clothes and the way they were styled and how they looked when they danced.
